Wandering Blue – “Half Moon Bay”

///

Audibly capturing ocean breezes with its twangy guitars and timeless-sounding croon, “Half Moon Bay” is a recent single from Wandering Blue. The track comes via the artist’s album 4,088 Miles, described as “a collection of traveling songs written for different cities in the U.S.” — with this particular release named after Half Moon Bay in California. The track’s writing arose “on a sad and dreary day down at the beach just after moving to the west coast,” per Wandering Blue.

Mellow guitar flickering and patiently unveiling vocals — “lamenting “just another cloudy day,” — build with a climactic intrigue, intertwining rock and a sophisti-pop enamoring. The “back again,” refrain in the second proves especially moving, crafting a hypnotic enthrallment into the satiating finale.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
