Alex Gerdt – “Off To See The Sun”

/

A resonating new single from Stockholm-based artist Alex Gerdt, “Off To See The Sun” balances folk introspection and driving Americana allure within a lyrical journey befitting of a road trip. “Life often becomes intensely overwhelming, and for me, there’s something liberating about just letting go, getting into the car, and driving aimlessly and far,” Gerdt explains. “Not quite knowing where I’m headed helps me relax and clear my thoughts. The song “Off to see the Sun” originated from that feeling – the feeling of journeying aimlessly with freedom.”

Previously a touring musician with the Swedish acts Mohombi and Eskobar, Gerdt’s solo career continues to excel with this single, following debut single “Just Like Anybody” earlier this spring. “Off To See The Sun” enamors in its calming vocal presence and bass-bouncing initial allure, as the lyrics admit “what we had in mind was lost in time.” Rollicking guitar twangs infuse a lovely, melodic charm as backing vocals inject a serene engrossment. “Off To See The Sun” is a high-quality showcase in songwriting and laid-back folk/Americana aesthetical vibes from Alex Gerdt.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
