Ian Roland – “Living in Sound”

/

“We become vapor, living in sound,” Ian Roland sings on “Living in Sound,” which expands into a gorgeous array of twinkling piano and orchestral adornments as the Brighton, UK-based artist’s vocals escalate passionately. “Hallelujah,” they continue with a breath of relief thereafter, as the frolicking acoustical twangs return with comforting warmness. The sky-soaring vocal layers and trickling acoustics drive with cohesive impact into the heightened vocal chills and strings/piano interplay.

Representing Ian Roland’s first single release of 2024, “Living in Sound” is exemplary of his stirring songwriting and knack for expansive instrumentation; many of Roland’s performances flourish with strings, piano, and drums — with bassist Dave Coomber playing alongside when the project is live as a duo. “Living in Sound” is a heartfelt, gorgeously produced success from Ian Roland, kicking off the year in quality form.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
