LOON – “Margaret”

/

A new single from LOON, “Margaret” finds the San Francisco-based quartet engaging with warming guitar twangs and a culminating vocal soaring. An intertwining of jangle-pop, ’60s country rock, and touches of modern psychedelia make for a memorable sound, set within a lyrical narrative “depicting a lost protagonist grappling with a life of excess.”

The two-minute turn unveils an especially melodic shift, as lyrics reference the pitfalls of over-valuing other people’s impressions; a glistening guitar solo takes hold after, traversing then into a hypnotic array of psych-friendly country-folk. “Margaret” is a wholly memorable success from LOON.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
