Snowcuffs – “Uptown”

A new single from Chicago-based band Snowcuffs, “Uptown” enthralls with a dreamy rock spaciousness, intertwining lush vocals and textured guitar escalations with gorgeous entrancement. Shades of Mazzy Star and Wolf Alice show in the absorbing production, led by Stephanie Nikolas’ melodic vocal presence alongside bustling rhythms and twangy guitar flourishes. The flurry of guitars align with caressing vocals for a blissful, replay-inducing quality — evident at points like the two-minute turn, and then delving into a bridge with nocturnal post-punk nostalgia. “Uptown” is a fantastic showcase from Snowcuffs.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
