Viruette – “Big Fat Nothing”

/

Boston-based trio Viruette unleash a passionate, dynamic rock appeal on new single “Big Fat Nothing,” preceding their debut album, Your Lacuna. Catching our ears previously with tracks like “Sick Hominid,” the band continue to excel with a climactic, ardent art-rock appeal — which on “Big Fat Nothing” ventures through a range of diverse guitar tones at mid-point, especially, as quaint twangs assemble into a distortion-heavy passion. Wordless vocals conclude this gem with a delectably hazy intrigue, as lingering distortion washes over.

Viruette describes the track as telling “the story of a narrator retelling the story of a heroin overdose and the consequent vomit-flecked train journey home, many years after the fact.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
