Brooklyn-based duo Immortal Wound dazzle on their track “starlight,” whose throbbing synths, pulsing rhythms, and soaring vocals balance hooky and hypnotic appeal. The initial vocal spell reminds fondly of Tame Impala, as does the soaring guitar line past the one-minute turn. Phaser-friendly tones and dexterous guitars build again into another vocal segment, this time resembling the sharp synth-pop smarts of Cut Copy. “starlight” represents the third of six singles from the act’s upcoming album, which will also be supported by a tour in the fall.
