Eric Gabriel – “Long Gone”

/

Brooklyn-based artist Eric Gabriel compels with a moodily infectious success in “Long Gone.” The track represents the third single via Gabriel’s upcoming debut album, produced by Philip Weinrobe (Adrianne Lenker, Florist).

“It was recorded almost entirely live to tape with no click, headphones, isolation, and few overdubs,” he says of the single, which enamors in its self-introspection and buzzing momentum. The “party’s over,” lyrical laments stir amidst pulsing bass complements and glimmering keys, driving into a riveting “where the hell did I go wrong?” segment — reminding fondly of Panda Bear in its soaring vocal tone and psych rock/pop intertwining. Second-half guitar additions add an invigorating element to the track, which deftly balances atmospheric lushness and melodic immediacy.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
