Ghost Park – “Seven Vials”

/

Brooklyn-based project Ghost Park crafts a dynamic rock entrancement on “Seven Vials,” the first single from newly released album 月読 (Tsukuyomi). Haunting guitar trickles traverse into a hazy vocal lushness — crafting a psychedelic, immersive soundscape that unfolds with artful precision. Jazzy percussive feelings linger thereafter as guitar twangs continue to send chills. The final minute is particularly riveting with its layered arsenal of rhythms and guitars, complementing a ghostly vocal charm.

Per Ghost Park, the track explores “the concept of singularity and collective consciousness, and is inspired by the philosophy of FM2030, Serial Experiments Lain, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.”

Ghost Park elaborates further on the album:

“in contrast to the exaltation and fondness for nature and life found on 2023’s amaterasu, tsukuyomi (月読) was written to express my contempt and disgust for the modern world — its greed, its filth, its monotony. its betrayal of everything that makes human life beautiful in pursuit of boundless capital at the expense of those powerless to defend themselves. as such, these songs deal with subjects of nuclear annihilation, futurism / transhumanism, singularity, psychedelics, suicide, and other fun topics. to complement this lyrical matter, the album features heavier instrumentals, darker tonalities, more warped and distorted production techniques, and a general malaise that plagued all of its contributors. the cover art is a watercolor entitled ‘dusk’ painted by the illustrious hannah moore.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
