Michael Sanders – “blue”

/

Austin-based artist Michael Sanders consumes on his new single “blue,” which melds ’90s rock nostalgia and lush pop/folk hookiness. “How about a joke for you? Something kind of sweet,” Sanders’ soaring opening vocals let out, consuming alongside a thunderous array of guitar distortion — reminding of Weezer’s classic power-pop and grungy fusing.

\Quickly thereafter, the production manages to tread another aesthetical realm entirely — cohesively moving into a twangy, folk-set beauty, and then back into the ardent rock passion. “Then maybe I won’t be blue,” Sanders hopes during this dreamier sequence, which blasts off into an invigorating guitar solo as the final minute arrives. “blue” is another thorough success from Michael Sanders, whose upcoming album fuzzer we continue to anticipate following this standout track and the preceding “the wild.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
