The Mercury Sound – “Turning Pages”

/

Oslo-based project The Mercury Sound emit a heartfelt synth-laden rock and pop appeal on new single “Turning Pages,” invoking an ’80s nostalgia in its anthemic central hook and dreamy synth adornments. “Keep turning pages,” a momentum-filled vocal refrain lets out following the lush initial verses, complemented by pulsing rhythms into tender guitar work — reminding fondly there of The War on Drugs. References to pages and chapters — reflecting moments in one’s life — proves resonant within the affecting, soaring production.

Per The Mercury Sound: “This song is a meditative one and about self-improvement and literally leaving old chapters behind and starting new.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
