A delectably woozy, hypnotic gem of a track from Wooter, “Blades in the Grass” rides on a head-nodding bass pulse, glimmering synth touches, and heady guitar swells. The project represents the work of Brooklyn-based artist and producer Rowan Brind, whose serenely gripping vocals also lend a riveting character, hazy and ruminating in their composure. Wooter first caught our attention in 2002 with the track “Epigraph.”
The meditative fusing of psychedelic rock and pop persists with a stylish entrancement throughout, while Brind’s vocal delivery is reminiscent of Damon Albarn’s more hypnotic, 13-era successes. “Blades in the Grass” comes ahead of Wooter’s upcoming album, Fragments, which we’re thoroughly anticipating.
