Candytuft – “Druid”

Asheville, NC-based band Candytuft consume with a debonair, stylish appeal on new single “Druid,” described as “about a ‘situationship’ that has become complicated.” Suave bass pulses, mellow keys, and swaying guitars craft an initial jazzy arsenal, fit for a dimly lit bar.

“All the wasted time, that we spent at night, don’t mean anything in our awkward lives,” the vocals let out, fondly reminiscent of Jerry Paper in its caressing tone. Lovely vocal harmonies then infuse in the “you don’t have a reason” segment. Another gorgeous entry takes hold past the two-minute turn, where the stately production turns into a more psychedelic free-flow, with a more electric arsenal that coincides with blissful, wordless vocal entries. “Druid” is a standout success from Candytuft.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
