Detroit-based artist Ramo Z‘s two-track EP I hate parties captures nightlife with heart, blending introspective indie-dance and house-ready energy. “strobe lights” hypnotically navigates hazy synths and soulful vocals, while “don’t stop” bursts into bright, free-flowing rhythms — together balancing emotional storytelling with kinetic, late-night dancefloor appeal.
“This EP is about living in the party scene but feeling like you’re watching it from the outside,” Ramo Z says. “One moment you want to disappear — the next you’re dancing like nothing matters. Sometimes you just need one person, one night, to break the loop.”
The first of the two tracks, “strobe lights” moves with suavely impactful pulses of hazy synths and soulful vocal charisma. “Everything’s in slow motion,” the vocals exude with hypnotic flair, invoking a late-night dancefloor with a knack for taking its participants to another world entirely. “Why you be talking like that?” a gripping vocal switch-up appears at the one-minute turn, embracing a confident hip-hop drive that seamlessly evolves into the “could use a break from strobe lights” hooky allure. A slowed-down, stylish outro cements the track as one with an ample replay factor.
Similarly captivating, “don’t stop” ensues with a dreamier initial intrigue. Wordless vocal effects and and rhythmic click-clacking maneuver with subdued charm, quickly accelerating into an impassioned “don’t stop!” vocal repetition. The lulling backing vocal elements persist with soothing immersion, with reflective synth serenity gliding as well into the charismatic hip-hop vocal flow. The alternations between the biting title-centric hook and fluid hip-hop deliveries make for another resonating success on an EP that envelops across both its tracks.
