Third Bloom – “Unturned” (feat. Tash Breeze)

Brighton, UK-based trip-hop producer Third Bloom crafts a hypnotic, heady allure on new single “Unturned,” featuring the soulfully intoxicating vocal performance of Tash Breeze. As a seasoned video creator, Third Bloom brings an atmospheric sensibility that transforms this rhythmic, darkly empowering journey into a fully realized, immersive soundscape.

“Unturned” opens with an enveloping atmospheric pull, pairing brisk, head-nodding trip-hop rhythms with solemn doses of keys and warming bass. Tash Breeze’s vocals maintain a debonair, chilly demeanor in their opening, resembling a Bond theme song in its ascent to the “how do I feel?” questioning as glimmering keys venture into a ghostly spaciousness at the one-minute turn. A dark, cavernous intrigue compels there as the vocals dare to “prove me wrong” as a simmering, glowing entrancement settles into a bass-led murkiness.

Thereafter, the track launches into a spacey electronic vigor, propelled by bursting synths and click-clacking rhythmic elements. The shift from moody trip-hop to a more electronic-minded brightness is achieved with seamless, artful cohesion. “How do I feel?” Tash Breeze’s vocals continue to dazzle during this sequence as well, consuming entirely across grimier, understated sequences and this more texturally involved send-off. “Unturned” is a replay-inducing standout from Third Bloom, achieving a wonderful balance between dark engrossment and infectious trip-hop stylishness.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
