Pat Faking – “Back Again” + “Take Me”

Pat Faking captures a resonating rock sound throughout the newly released Faking EP, spanning from the bass-thumping, jangly suaveness of previously featured “Easy” to rousing rock expanses like opener “Back Again.” The latter kicks the EP into sweltering gear, echoing with shoegaze-y guitar soaring that melds seamlessly with a melodically nonchalant vocal emanation, giving full spotlight to the delectably whirring guitar tones.

“Take Me” is another EP standout, there venturing with a moodier, twanging guitar line and post-punk rhythmic undercurrent. “Take me away,” a lush vocal beckoning emerges, layered and harmonious as the fuzzy guitars persist into bouts of bass-forward introspection. The EP is a tour-de-force synergy of alt-rock, shoegaze, and post-punk from Pat Faking.
