New album Little Epiphanies is a sun-drenched jangle-pop triumph from global collective The Kind Hills, out now. Swapping stems across four continents, the group delivers 14 tracks defined by dreamy melodies and breezy guitars, celebrating nostalgia and perseverance with serene, optimistic warmth. This international collaboration features Martin (Australia), Roman (Switzerland), Brett (Australia), Jess (UK), Bea (USA), and Chase (Hong Kong).
A breezy rock charm shows right away with album opener “All Your Promises,” whose balmy array of lush acoustic strums and twangy electric guitar guide into a caressing vocal introspection. Ruminations on empty promises and personal ambitions meld with a drive to go “far away from you,” its perspectives of renewal delighting alongside the ethereal jangle-pop production.
Ensuing track “Making Memories” succeeds within a more folk-touched rock vein, while a different vocal lead offers up guidance on how “what you need is happening right now” — resembling a carpe-diem beckoning for the moment, and appreciating the “beauty all around us.” The album delights with its thematic contemplations and melodic blissfulness, with both aspects on strong display with the opening one-two punch.
Elsewhere, “Dance, Dance, Dance” achieves a strong atmospheric glow in its interplay of warming acoustics and serene synths. The enthusiastic title-touting hook stirs in its vibrant emotion, framing the act of dancing as a way to forget “pain and sorrow.” The album has plenty of understated, gorgeous moments, and also tracks like “Dance, Dance, Dance” — excelling in a stellar middle ground between danceable infectiousness and starry-eyed contemplation. From steadily escalating jangle-pop cuts like “Seaside” to synth-touched tropical chills within “I Need a Holiday,” Little Epiphanies is a stirring success of an album from The Kind Hills.
