Enthralling in its infectious rock sound and cohesive use of guitars, strings, and saxophone, “Moses as Orator” is a stellar new track from Brooklyn-based art-rock duo Pale Ramon. Representing the second single from their upcoming album, The Yawn, the release is described as exploring “modern overstimulation, consumption, and the feeling of standing amid the consequences of your own choices.”
Pulsing percussion and twangy guitars drive into a clanging bass energy, showing no shortage of momentum as the track gets underway. “I’m in the middle of everything that I burnt down,” the vocals repeat with an initial fervency, maintaining an infectious pace throughout. “Holed up, soul sucked…” they progress within a head-nodding rhythmic sequence, with fuzzy bass bolstering the palpably climactic feeling. “’Cause love here’s lost forever, it’s all just talk to better,” vocals ring out during a delightful chorus, punctuated by a saxophone art-rock emergence and dashes of cinematic strings. “Moses as Orator” is an enveloping success from Pale Ramon, founded by Kevin Plessner and Emanuel Ayvas, and first catching our ears in 2021 with the track “Forever.”
