A playful art-rock contemplator, “Dumb” is a new single from Mager BooBoo, the project of singer-songwriter Robert Bachtell Eastland. He describes the release as something that “should be the soundtrack in your head when you say or do something stupid even though you know you’re smart.”
“Dumb de dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb,” a deep vocal presence lets out initially, driving to a confessional vocal lead: “Oops! I made another booboo, But I’m not the only one!” Serene guitar jangling and bouncy bass currents propel alongside, with an emerging guitar solo driving delectably past the one-minute turn as harmonious vocal let out “dumb, dumb, dumb…” with harmonious infectiousness. A catchy art-rock sound combines with relatable lyrics, effectively narrating “the awkwardness of being human in today’s f’ed up world.”
