The Holifields – “Water Ghost”

/

The Holifields are a young psych/progressive rock group from Knoxville, Tennessee. Their new track “Water Ghost” is an excellent piece of songwriting, with soaring, psych-friendly vibes that resembles a meshing of Arctic Monkeys (though more in the Last Shadow Puppets) and Tame Impala. There’s a bit of a Celtic-like glow in the acoustical backing, a la Led Zeppelin, as well. A synth flourish around 02:20 gives way to a serene, spacious verse, providing variation on this hypnotic success before concluding with the brisk set of psych-friendly instrumentation introduced early on. This is a stellar release from a rising young act.
