ALBUM PREVIEW: Junior Boys – So This Is Goodbye

The Junior Boys are one of those bands with such a unique sound, it is quite hard to compare them to others. The duo of Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus combine lush electronica with soothing vocals and fascinating lyrics. The structures of the songs are as unique as anything, explaining why it takes several listens for the Junior Boys to get stuck in your head. It is easy to recognize the brilliance right away though, as their 2004 debut, Last Exit, showed. From the catchy ‘Birthday’ to the dramatic ‘Teach Me How To Fight’, the album was a winner in all aspects, pushing Junior Boys as one of the best bands of 2004 and one of the best electronic bands in recent memory.

Their new album, So This Is Goodbye, releases this year on August 14, with many people anticipating it (including myself). Their sound is not forgotten and they remain one of the more innovative acts at the moment. ‘In The Morning’ will be the first single from the new album, as after ‘First Time’, it is the most accessible song on the new album. The new album is grower though, that’s for sure, and I would not be surprised if it turns out to be the best of the year.

  1. Ah, thanks for the corrections. I thought they had made ‘Like A Child’ the first one for some odd reason, but I guess not. Good choice.
