MP3: Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti – “Only in My Dreams”

MP3: Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti – Only In My Dreams

The pleasant “Only In My Dreams” infuses Felt-inspired guitar twangs with Ariel’s frequent love for ’60s garage-rock, shown by covers of “Bright Lit Blue Skies” and “Baby”. Beautifully illuminated keys during the chorus help establish a light airy tone, which fits perfectly over one of Ariel’s most laid-back deliveries to date — think the harmonious “West Coast Calamities” and “Come My Way” crossed with the twinkling garage-pop of “Let’s Build a Campfire There”. “Only In My Dreams” is hazy and wistful, like many of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti best tracks, and this one stands up to anything on the superb Before Today.

The track is off their upcoming album Mature Themes, out 8/21 via 4AD.
