Memoryy – “I Thought You Needed My Love” (feat. Odd Year)

The first single off Memoryy’s upcoming Skeletons EP, “I Thought You Needed My Love” sports a swelling synth-pop vibe in its initial creep, leading to a very convincing hook around the one-minute mark that reminds of a cross between Erasure’s synth-pop grandiosity and Hot Chip’s infectious swagger. The passionate backing vocals and house-laden percussive beat give off a funk-i-fied glam-electro feel. The effort is a collaboration with California-based producer ODD YEAR. It shows rumination on a love gone wrong, and is another stellar effort from an act who had a very impressive 2016, writing the new Netflix Chelsea Handler theme song and becoming a frequent name on Hype Machine’s ‘Popular’ charts as both a remixer and original act.

Note: Memoryy is or was represented at some point by Obscure PR, which is affiliated with Obscure Sound.
