This is The Artist‘s Job – “Chasing Elevators” (feat. Flame-O)

/

A lushly absorbing jazz-pop sound shines on “Chasing Elevators,” a consuming ballad from This is The Artist’s Job, the Germany-based project of composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Etu Raposo. Also comprising the project is filmmaker, photographer, and painter Tedda Efaríe. The soulfully dynamic vocals of Flame-O flow throughout this standout track, enthralling across both the “watch you from the upper floor” whispered mystique to more fervent outpourings, like the uptick at 02:30.

The smooth guitar stylings and powerful vocal performance captivate throughout, reminding fondly of Prefab Sprout’s sophisti-pop pull at points. Also excelling in its themes of unresolved love, and deeply playing as a social critique of love made harder in a world plagued by societal boundaries and prejudice, “Chasing Elevators” is a fantastic output from This is The Artist’s Job.
