Premiere: Rare Monk – “Phosphorescence”

/

Featured a few weeks ago, Rare Monk’s single “Happy Haunting” was wonderfully received, with fluid guitar work and a gorgeously melodic hook hinting that the band’s forthcoming album A Future would be something special. Now released, the album coincides with another single in “Phosphorescence”, a spacey and more jam-friendly sound than “Happy Haunting” that’s equally engaging. Spacey guitar trickles lead into a psych-friendly tonal shift just past the two-minute mark, reminding of Tame Impala’s aesthetic. It’s a rich, exotic-sounding effort compared to the infectious though more safely-treading “Happy Haunting”, nicely representative of an album full of fantastic, individual sounds.
