Venice May – “Hiding Place”

/

Paris-based post-rock/alt-rock duo Venice May impress with new track “Illusion,” a dark-sounding and stirring effort — with piercing vocals and a haunting feel reminiscent of Evanescence, especially when the rockin’ chorus hits prior just to 01:30. The duo of Natalia Samofalova and Vincent Bedfert, a couple both on the stage and off, formed the project in 2013 though this track represents their first “common effort.” She showcases some particularly soaring vocals around 02:32, at which point a climactic assortment of guitars and rousing percussion helps lead this fervent effort to a close.

“Hiding Place” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2018’ Spotify playlist.
