Con Davison – “Far Off Distant Plans”

//

“Far Off Distant Plans” is an engaging piece of songwriting from Con Davison, a Texas-raised songwriter living in Saint Paul, MN. The chorus, with its gentle touch of spacey electronics, reminds of Damien Jurado efforts like “A.M. AM.” The verses chug on heartfelt vocals, acoustic strums, and accompanying piano. Melodically, the track takes a leap around 01:46, when a catchy synth-led melody combines with the acoustics for a gripping sound. I’m a big fan of “Far Off Distant Plans” and what’s to come for Con Davison.

The track comes from Con Davison’s new five-track EP, which can be streamed on Bandcamp.

“Far Off Distant Plans” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2018’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Folk.
