Mark Evich – “Stuck”

//

Funk guitar and lush synth pad flourishes establish the initial, captivating soundscape on “Stuck,” a successful new track from Mark Evich. Presently based in NYC, Evich wrote “Stuck” shortly after his immigration from Russia. Its initial iteration was as a performance video on Instagram, which caught the attention of a friend – producer k0v – who suggested he contribute an arrangement. From there, the two collaborated on this catchy, polished effort, also with help from sound engineer Miki Rother with the mixing.

The track stands out for its striking transition from verse to chorus. A soulful pop presence is immediate, with tender guitars and smooth vocals. Less than a minute in, the wavering synths fade out alongside the percussion, paving the way for a throbbing synth to emerge alongside club-friendly rhythms and a now entrancing vocal delivery. Verses and chorus contrast, though still fall seamlessly into each other. This is a fun, catchy effort from Evich.

“Stuck” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2019’ Spotify playlist.
