RE/GEN – “Signals”

“Signals” shows a synth-tinged post-punk sound from Vancouver-based act RE/GEN. They released their first full-length, Talk to the Past, this month. The album and this track in particular show a tendency for gripping, suavely rhythmic verses with nonchalant post-punk appeal, growing into a melodic synth-laden expansion during the chorus as the post-punk guitars remain. A spacey final minute caps this one off nicely. In touching on post-punk, synth-pop, and dream-pop with balanced precision, RE/GEN show a sound worth digesting with melodic and nostalgic allure.

“Signals” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.
