Aura Blaze – “Good While It Lasted”

//

The Sparkling Black is a newly released album from Aura Blaze, the New Jersey-based psych-rock project of Rhode Rachel. As album track shows “Good While It Lasted,” the artist is also fully adept at bouncier, psych-pop fare with power-pop guitars. The song is a melodic treat, with guitar-pop and soaring vocal adornments accompanied by doses of orchestral-laden chamber-pop (especially present as the birds chirp around the three-minute mark). Aesthetically, it’s not surprising that the artist has covered Electric Light Orchestra material in the past, as there’s a similarly-sounding inspiration throughout this splendid release.
