iiiso – “TIME 4 YOU”

Vancouver-based hip-hop artist iiiso has been drawing buzz for his atmospheric hip-hop sound, opening for acts like Danny Brown and Chris Travis, in addition to his own shows at Hawthorne Theater, Portland State, and Washington State University. New track “TIME 4 YOU” is poised to continue this momentum; hazy synths and a melodic vocal lead make for a consuming aesthetic. The “gotta get down,” vocal hook past the one-minute mark adds some intensity, highlighting a vocal delivery that’s primarily tranquil though fully adept at ascending emotional heights. The vocals rise again a minute later, with each emergence playing well alongside the lush synth-driven beat.

The artist elaborates on the track: “‘Time 4 You’ highlights the vulnerability of getting comfortable in a relationship and fighting through society’s negative conditioning. It is easy to live a life full of mistrust when people have hurt you over and over.”

“TIME 4 YOU” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2019’ Spotify playlist.
