Sluka – “Hey Oh”

We featured the self-titled track from Sluka’s new album, Ready to Connect, last month — emphasizing the band’s knack for twangy acoustics, soaring melodies, and orchestral additions. The San Diego act is no stranger to shimmering, easily accessible melodies, again evident on the track “Hey Oh,” the second single from the album. The band’s tendency for positive energy and upbeat melodies also continues here. “Revel in your time. Find the beauty within the horrors of your wonderful life. So raise hope, nobody ever knows. So raise hope… nobody ever knows,” they write in the track description. Christopher Sluka and company strut a simple structure on “Hey Oh,” though aided by jubilant vocal production and an optimistic feel. The band’s goal to emit good vibes is again accomplished.

“Hey Oh” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2019’ Spotify playlist.
