“Foolish to Try” is an atmospheric ballad from Mike Baretz, a singer, songwriter, and producer with an aptitude for R&B-infused pop. Baretz is also a popular performer in the NYC/Brooklyn area, featuring a solo act with a guitar, piano, and computer. The track echoes timeless love ballads in its evenly-paced yearning. Bursts of tender guitars emerge just past the two-minute mark, as the vocals take a pause. The “when I hear that voice,” vocal layering is beautifully done as well. I’m looking forward to hearing more from this rising artist.
