Robi Mitch – “Our Year”

//

Robi Mitch’s debut EP Our Year is an excellent listen, integrating ’70s psych-pop and rock influence alongside a singer/songwriter intimacy, while also touching on “the breezy indie pop of Taiwan, where Robi previously worked as a session musician.” The EP represents the Bristol-based artist’s first foray as a solo artist. Opener “Miss” meshes quaint acoustics and vocals with sporadic electric guitar blares, with the second half sounding more invigorated. The lush, suave “Ghost” is another highlight, as is the self-titled track — where jangly guitars and synths converge alongside serene vocals for a nice embodiment of Robi Mitch’s various talents. The guitar work in the final two minutes is particularly heavenly.
