Justin Lucas – “Someone’s Gotta Help Me Out”

//

Evoking ’60s psych-pop and folk with its serenely gripping aesthetic, “Someone’s Gotta Help Me Out” is a gem from Justin Lucas. The lush ushering of acoustics and piano is swiftly accompanied by stirring strings, hinting at the gorgeous production to come. Lucas’ mellow vocal presence sounds like an antidote for troubled times. Live strings, slide guitar, and harp add further to the intoxicating sound. Aesthetically, I’m fondly reminded of David Vandervelde’s 2007 album The Moonstation House Band.

Lucas has success as a collaborator in the writer/producer/session realms, writing and producing records for artists like Khalid, The Revivalists, Arlissa, Anthony Russo, Ella Mai, Ceelo Green, and EXO.

“Someone’s Gotta Help Me Out” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the best-of Spotify compilation Best Tracks of 2020.
