Josh Fudge – “Second Date”

Superbly catchy and chilled-out, “Second Date” is a new track from Oklahoma City-based artist Josh Fudge. Thematically capturing a yearning for a relationship’s brighter days (or a new one capable of such), “Second Date” rides on forlorn yet melodic synths from the get-go. The artist’s soulful, charismatic vocal presence is initially accompanied by mellow keys, joined by strutting synths after the “hey, wait a minute,” bridge. The verses captivate, culminating in a chorus that proves infectious with the vocal tone switch-up and synth-based reprisal. “Second Date” is a smooth-as-butter, replay-inducing gem from the impressive 18-year-old instrumentalist and songwriter.

“Second Date” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
