Cable TV – “Sit Back Player”

“Sit Back Player” is a suavely addictive electro-pop track with soulful appeal from Cable TV, the new project of James Yuill. The project’s second single, “Sit Back Player” succeeds aesthetically and melodically. The sporadic synth-bass push resembles Junior Boys at first, with the pop-forward vocal charm showing vibes more reminiscent of Gus Dapperton, Toro y Moi, and Hot Chip. Warming synth arps past the one-minute mark grow into spacey synth pulsations, gearing nicely into the track’s second half. “Sit Back Player” impresses with its hooky melody and admirable electronic flourishes in the production, a sure success from Yuill.

“Sit Back Player” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2020’ Spotify playlist.
