Scotch Mist – “funny face”

A swaying, surf-tinged pop gem with ample mood, “funny face” is another success from Scotch Mist, the NYC act impressing with past tracks like “Big Red Button” and Surfside.” Melancholic vocals and piano join twangy guitars initially, with rhythmic additions gradually building to a beautiful hook — “funny face, made it go away,” — that entices replays. Glistening keys and dreamy guitars establish a blissful, island-set conclusion, punctuated superbly by blissful brass. Short and sweet, “funny face” is another showcase of Scotch Mist’s knack for engrossing songwriting and production.

“funny face” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2020’ Spotify playlist.
