Super City – “42 Years”

/

Baltimore-based band Super City show a vitalizing rock sound on new track “42 Years,” which — per the band — is “about an infamous godlike leader passing the torch.” The “42 years,” refrain plays great with chugging guitar distortion and gripping vocal suaveness. 01:46 shows a haunting, murky bridge that leads seamlessly back into the invigorated refrain. Queens of the Stone Age is referenced as an inspiration, and the revving guitar tones and title-referencing hook certainly exude a comparable swagger. “42 Years” manages to package ample rock-driven charisma and a series of winning structural twist/turns into a three-minute delight.

“42 Years” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2020’ Spotify playlist.
