Cap’n Marble – “Song For Ella”

//

“Song For Ella” touts a consuming pop sound steeped in ’60s nostalgia, marking another success from Cap’n Marble. The duo, previously impressing with tracks like “Come 2 California” and “Bed of Sun,” has shown adeptness in the past with both surf-tinged and contemplative delights. “Song For Ella” rides on a suave, throwback feel — building enjoyably to the “I’ve been up, I’ve been down,” escalation rounding the 30-second mark. The duo of John Dasilva and Ryan Arshonsky show quality songwriting and a strong throwback aesthetic throughout this release, parts haunting and parts infectious.

“Song For Ella” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2021’ Spotify playlist.
