Maida Rose – “Harmony of Heartache”

/

“Harmony of Heartache” is a dream-pop delight from Maida Rose, a band from The Hauge, Netherlands. Dark guitar tones accompany gentle vocals to start, leading to a soaring hook past the one-minute mark — a replay-inducing moment in its own right. A striking melodic shift, around 02:20, casts a contemplatively hypnotic tone; gentle piano and buzzing synths assemble with an infectious glow. The vocal accompaniment thereafter reminds fondly of Beach House. “Harmony of Heartache” is a strongly memorable track that should appeal to dream-pop fans and beyond.

Maida Rose say the following about the track: “The song is about the experience of having a loved one close to you going through depression. It is written as a support for everyone who is going through a rough time.”

“Harmony of Heartache” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
