Maida Rose – “Where Do We Go”

/

“Where Do We Go” is another dream-pop success from Maida Rose, impressing strongly with “Harmony of Heartache” in February. The “then suddenly,” melodic turn shows a darker, mysterious pull following fluttering, dreamy verses. 02:16 unveils a catching, bass-heavy twist with a heady allure, as twangy guitars envelop thereafter in a way reminding fondly of Beach House. Maida Rose — comprised of Roos Meijer and Javièr den Leeuw — are currently prepping their upcoming album, slated for early 2022.

The Dutch act elaborate more on the track: “The song takes place at the end of a long-term relationship, where the realisation starts to sink in that you need to rediscover who you are when not being with your partner anymore. It’s a phase of denial, after unsuccessful attempts to let your lover go.”

“Where Do We Go” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
