Thomas Thomas – “Right Place Wrong Time”

/

A jubilant rocker about the fleeting nature of young love, “Right Place Wrong Time” is a catchy new track from Calgary-based ensemble Thomas Thomas. Per the band, it’s a “a sparkly cautionary tale about pining after someone, but never feeling like it’s the right time.” The references to Blockbuster Video and leaving messages on TI-83 calculators are nostalgic in its own right, and especially when complemented by the fuzzy guitar-laden effervescence, for a full-on ’90s throwback feeling. The “I feel your gaze,” bridge plays cleverly, gearing cohesively into the shimmering “right place, wrong time,” chorus. “Right Place Wrong Time” captures feelings of yearning youth and particular childhood staples within a fun, hook-friendly rock sound.

“Right Place Wrong Time” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2021’ Spotify playlist.
