Split Aura – “Limerence”

/

A new track from Philadelphia-based band Split Aura, “Limerence” incorporates surf-laden guitar dreaminess and post-punk rhythms alongside lyrics depicting an “unhealthy romantic obsession.” The ominous guitar tones and nonchalant vocal presence aptly accompanies outcast lyrical yearning, the sturdy post-punk elements entrancing in the rhythm section’s pulsing.

“No one understands me,” the vocals ring out, escalating the brooding underlying guitars with an enjoyably vulnerable vocal tone. The “limerence, coincidence,” hook charms with brighter guitar-based strengths, exemplifying the track’s subtle and cohesive structural strengths, balancing post-punk grittiness with yearning hookiness.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
