Tacono Gate – “Your Eyes or Something Like Them”

/

“Your Eyes or Something Like Them” is another engaging track from Tacono Gate, the Brooklyn-based artist who impressed previously with “Something in Your Eye” and “It’ll All Come to Pass.

Pursuing a more “minimalist dark/slowcore approach,” with some ’80s nostalgia thrown in, “Your Eyes or Something Like Them” builds steadily off solemn guitar tones and solemn vocals. “I was reading in my room” they begin, the crawling post-punk tone steadily rising and then falling into playfully eerie synth tones. The “like your eyes,” refrain merges rock and synth-pop fervency for satisfyingly melodic results, pairing with a consuming aesthetic for a stellar track.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
