Illbe – “Long Gone”

/

Brussels-based artist Illbe crafts an eerily compelling sound throughout “Long Gone,” a track that serves as an introduction to the artist’s upcoming EP, releasing this fall. The track also releases alongside a music video, above, which beautifully captures the track’s desolate mood via Corentin Cuvelier’s engrossing direction.

“Long Gone” creeps in with unsettling synth tones that spaciously expand, fit for an episode of Twin Peaks. The lyrics, speaking of loss and isolation, resonate with apt precision. “I walked for miles,” the vocals let out during a stomping percussive entry, moving like intimidating footsteps into glistening, sharp guitars. The music video’s various shots — a dog and man exploring a foggy forest, with rain-clouds overhead and nocturnal waters — are poignantly implemented. “Long Gone” captivates with its dark soundscape and moody vocal pull.
