Casey Wells‘ new track “Side of Me” wastes no time captivating with its hypnotic rock entrancement. Expressive guitar twangs and wordless backing vocals concoct a powerful, psych-induced vigor. The Charleston-based artist’s vocals emerge seamlessly thereafter, exuding a funk-tinged brand of atmospheric rock fondly reminiscent of Unknown Mortal Orchestra. “Only you knew that side of me,” he sings throughout, fully immersing on this short yet sweet psych-rocking success.

Per the artist, the track is “about letting go of the past even if it feels like losing a part of yourself.” The striking contrast between the delectable guitar bursts and yearning, spacey vocals makes for a perpetual sense of entertainment throughout, inducing replays with its appetizing length and general stylistic demeanor. Look for more tracks from Wells in the near future.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2022’ Spotify playlist.
