Turtle Club – “Cheers”

Milan-based solo project Turtle Club blends jangling melodic rock with shoegaze and garage-pop influences on “Cheers,” pairing fuzzy guitar layers with contemplatively affecting songwriting. Written, performed, produced, and mastered almost entirely by the artist in a self-built studio, the track reflects a hands-on approach to crafting richly textured and emotionally impactful music.

A serenely melodic rock sound captivates throughout, compelling right away as the intertwining of lush jangling undercurrents and a chirpier lead makes for a hypnotically immersive allure. “Do you wonder why you see aberrations in the dark?” an enjoyably understated vocal presence emerges, sounding like a lovely cross of Teenage Fanclub and Spiritualized in the guitar dynamics and vocals. “When the mirrors start to bend, how will you know foe from friend?” the vocals continue to serve up introspective lyricism, melding well with the hazy rock atmospherics.

The “three cheers for a prophecy” hook ensues, with an added backing shimmer combining well with the memorable vocal push. A twangy guitar presence follows blissfully, before arriving back into the comforting warmth of the verses. Flourishes of those soaring guitars re-emerge in the track’s final thirty seconds, carrying into a satiating conclusion. “Cheers” is a fantastic rocker from Turtle Club, delighting with a jangly melodic resonance and steady, hypnotic song structure.
