Zacariiah – “Waterslide”

A memorable single written and self-produced by Indianapolis-based artist Zacariiah, “Waterslide” enamors with its hazy guitars and atmospheric synth interweaving. The mellow vocals entice — “go down the waterslide,” — alongside twangy guitars; there’s a sense of ultimatum in the yearning lyrics, capturing the time and place of a relationship where things remain uncertain, even as times appear blissful.

Zacariiah’s masterful blend of serene guitar twangs and heady synth tones make for hypnotic engrossment throughout, maintaining a steady tonal pull with late-night brooding. I’m definitely looking forward to what’s next from Zacariiah, who cites his main influences as “Odd Future, Tame Impala, Twenty One Pilots, Glass Animals.”

Per Zacariiah: “This song is about being with someone new for a little bit and falling for them only to wonder if it’ll last and how long she truly wants to be with me.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2022’ Spotify playlist.
