Luke Petruzzi – “Cornered”

//

Fusing hip-hop and R&B suaveness with a nocturnal electro-pop soundscape, “Cornered” is the latest single from San Francisco-based artist Luke Petruzzi. The chilly synth work and lush vocals remind fondly of a cross between Junior Boys and James Blake.

Bubbly synth warbles slink alongside vocals reflecting a sense of suffocation. A suave synth-laden shift past the one-minute turn reprises the “I’m cornered,” refrain with added sophistication, as a deep vocal sample glides delightfully into an infectious synth arpeggio. “Cornered” is a stylish, infectious success from Petruzzi.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Electronic Pop.
